Plans post-concert (and other updates!)
A big thank-you goes out to all those who helped with another successful piano concert at the Chico Women's Club last month. As I expected, there was a lot of last-minute prepping involved, and the picture attached to this post (which was taken when we were celebrating after the show) doesn't quite do it justice, primarily because I was way more exhausted than I look in the photo!
Nevertheless, we had a lot of fun, and even after all this I'm in the midst of getting ready to play another gig (a wedding for a friend, this coming Saturday) and then I'll be performing for the Baha'is of Chico later this month.
Aside from that, I submitted some of my music to one of Tanis Cassidy's videos that he makes for Chico's Butte Humane Society. I was pretty excited because he made an observation about the sound quality in the recording, saying that it had improved. This is good to know for the recordings I plan to do for 'August In Bloom' (the CD I've been wanting to produce for a very long time now).
It's amazing to think it's been a full eight months since played my first show at the Women's Club, back in February. It's tricky to make these shows profitable, though, because the rent at that particular location is very expensive. I still plan on booking another concert soon, in addition to another major goal I decided to pay more attention to: getting more of my music recorded on YouTube. The good news about this is that I have a much better quality camera -- and by this I'm talking strictly about the visual quality. The sound quality will be taken care of when I lay the audio track from ProTools over it ;)
In light of this new focus, I've decided to try and upload two new YouTube videos this week (perhaps one as early as this Thursday). I get to juggle this in addition to continuing my job in Yuba City and, as always, improving my skills on the violin. I realized that next month I am turning 41, and it just goes to show that time keeps passing so quickly. It's all the more reason for me to make sure and steer these goals towards fruition...
